The phone rung and I was so glad to see it was my sister’s caller ID.
“Hello how are you?” I answered with
“Much better" she replied as we continued with our usual Sunday morning catch up.
The week had been hectic for both of us as we traveled back to our cities and straight into work; and so we needed the weekend to relax and recharge. Which was what we had decided to do and I could tell I really had to take a full day of doing nothing, so we both decided to communicate via text on Saturday morning and concentrate on our me-days. So when she called on Sunday morning and had a run through of her day and my day, I felt so blessed for the gift of life the gift of rest, this day and for family. Even though the week was hectic, I had so many experiences and I would love to give thanks for 10 things that made this week great.
Grateful of the release of our gratitude podcast: The past week one of my coaches released and episode of Gratitude on his podcast that I was a guest on. I looked forward to making it with him and I was also honoured he asked me to talk about one of my favourite subjects.
Grateful for a safe flight in stormy weather - The beginning of the week saw heavy rains and winds in the nordic countries to the point where most people were advised against traveling or any unnecessary commutes. My sister and I had flights booked the two days where the winds were really strong but we were brought safely to our destinations.
Gratitude for the health and lives of my loved ones - I can’t stress this enough but everyday I get to enjoy great health with my family and big belly laughs is more than enough reason for me to be grateful.
Grateful for the visit from a colleague when they heard I was back in the office - I had been away 3 weeks and things have been changed in these three weeks, so I was glad to see that one of my colleagues didn’t just call or text but walked over to my department just to say “hi” and check up.
Gratitude for the lift back home from another colleague after work - I have sold my car as I am moving so I am currently dependant on taxis and public transport but I was so surprised and grateful when my colleague offered to drop me off even though it was out of their own way home.
Grateful for the offer to be driven by another colleague - Whilst I waited for my ride home, another colleague passing by asked if I needed a lift home? I smiled and thanked them for their offer and said I had another colleague driving me.
Gratitude for my old neighbour picking up and looking after my mail whilst I was away - Being away for a good three weeks meant my post box would be full but my lovely neighbour: an elderly lady who normally receives and sign my packages wrote to me telling me she had a number of my parcels at her place together with my mail. I sent her a thank you text and picked them up upon my return.
Gratitude for my products selling out in time for restocking - On the business side some of my products have sold out and now being restocked.
Grateful for the till assistant helping me out on the refund - Still on kindness from people I had a not so good experience being over charged at the shop and when I approached one till assistant she was very dismissive but then her colleague took over and resolved my issue I thanked her and left feeling grateful.
Gratitude for those welcoming hugs that make you feel like you belong from friends who clearly had missed me - These got me smiling and my heart full. I walked into the gym and walked towards where my gym buddy and girlfriend was set up. She looked up and immediately rushed to give me a hug. A hug that held more meaning than just a nice to see you. Then at work I saw my best mate whilst in the canteen having lunch with another colleague. He walked over to me gave me a hug and said I didn’t know you’d be in today seeing you came back just yesterday. Another loaded hug that just made me feel welcome.
There are still so many things I could pen down and I know most of these things we tend to take for granted or pay little attention to. But these are things, gestures and experiences that had a positive effect on my day and attitude. We are social creatures and one thing that really breaks an individual’s spirit is feeling alone in a world where everyone one is so connected via the internet. These connections I felt and encounters that I had were in person and personal and not one that can be experienced in the virtual world or easily accessed in our busy lives. So, as I look back on a rather busy week I still have so many blessings to count and I hope that you in the busyness of things find time to appreciate the encounters in your life or even find them in the not so good experiences.
Affirmation: I am grateful for all my experiences
