If you know me you know I am a big Christmas person, like really big. You know the type that starts planning activities and gifting from September and has like 5 of the most hideous Christmas jumpers? Yes that’s me, but what really makes me love this season is the kindness and warmth you find around this time of the year.
As we approach the festive season, our hearts are filled with the warmth of holiday traditions, the joy of spending time with loved ones, and the anticipation of creating beautiful memories. In this today’s newsletter, we'll explore some of the magic that comes with cultivating a grateful heart during the holidays and how it can enhance the joy found in the simple moments.
Cherishing Festive Traditions
The holiday season is synonymous with cherished traditions that bring families and friends together. Whether it's decorating the tree, baking cookies - one of my favourites, or sharing stories by the fireplace, these traditions create a sense of continuity and belonging. Every 1st weekend in December I bake Christmas cookies which I happily pack and share with family, neighbours and friends. It’s something I really enjoy and look forward to and I am so grateful for this tradition because I get to see the joy it brings unexpected receivers.Take a moment to reflect on your favourite holiday traditions and appreciate the joy they bring to your life.
Gratitude for Loved Ones
At the heart of the holidays is the company of those we hold dear. Expressing gratitude for the presence of family and friends adds depth to our celebrations. It may not always be blood family but whoever you call family let them know what this means to you. Consider thoughtful gestures, like writing heartfelt notes or organising a virtual gathering, to show appreciation for the love and support that surrounds you during this festive season.
Finding Joy in Simple Pleasures
As the season can also be hectic it is easy for us to take for granted the little encounters that put a smile on our faces. Take time to revel in the simple pleasures that make the holidays as meaningful as possible. Whether it's the twinkle of festive lights, the aroma of freshly baked treats, or the beauty of a snowy landscape, these moments deserve our attention and gratitude. Practice mindfulness by savouring these simple joys.
Acts of Kindness and Giving Back
This season right here gives you the excuse to be more giving as the spirit of giving is a powerful aspect of the holiday season. It need not be anything extravagant but something very heartfelt. Consider how you can incorporate acts of kindness into your celebrations, from donating to charity to volunteering your time. By giving back, you not only spread joy to others but also deepen your own sense of gratitude.
As this weekend launches us into the Christmas days, I am more than grateful because I choose to see and feel so much joy. As we navigate the holiday season, let's embrace gratitude as a guiding star, shinning light on the joy found in the simple moments and cherished connections. With a grateful heart, we not only enhance our own holiday experience but also contribute to a season of warmth and kindness.
In closing I would like to ask - In the spirit of gratitude, what simple moment during the holidays are you most grateful for, and how does it bring joy to your heart?
Affirmation: I am grateful for the joy I feel in this moment.
