Joyce Meyer once said if you complain you remain and if you praise you will be raised.
An attitude of gratitude - this is a character worth developing no matter the circumstances there’s always something to be grateful for.
As another week is coming to a beautiful end and I thought what better way to usher in the weekend than with a grateful heart and mind. Like every decision, gratitude is also a choice and one we can make even in the midst of challenges.
See we are so blessed at this moment in time yet we still find the opportunity to complain about the things that are supposedly not working in our lives. Being grateful does not mean our lives are free of trial and challenges, no we still have them but instead of wallowing we find the other things that are working to be grateful for.
These couple of weeks have humbled me yet again and as I reflect on the kindness, help and support around me I can only say a prayer of thanks for my experiences. As I write this I just think about the many times during the week I have had the cause to be frustrated, angry and you name it but on many of these occasions I have just resigned to the thought of - this is temporary, if I can’t change stuff there’s no point and I can only control me. This has helped me move past and through some challenging situations that would have just discouraged me. I look to what I have already and what is going well to move past the things that aren't. I have had delayed deliveries, got stuck in traffic and rocked up late at work and even double booked stock for business that I can’t return but I decided to focus my attention on things like the good conversations with drivers as I got stuck in traffic and being saved a seat for the meeting I was late to.
We tend to focus on the things that are not working so much that we take for granted the cuddle from our pet, the friendliness from the till assistant, the green lights that got us through traffic in time and even the clean water running through our faucets. Focusing our attentions and energies on what is not working, results in more of such situations because where attention goes energy flows. Joyce Meyer once said if you complain you remain and if you praise you will be raised, what are we focusing on at this moment even in the midst of that challenge? I am not undervaluing what you are going through but think about this, (this thought always humbles me.) today 150,000 people worldwide will lose their lives, take dreams that are still in their hearts with them but you and I are still here. This alone for me is reason enough to be grateful, we are blessed with another day to work towards making our dreams a reality or be the change we want to see. So will you join me in starting off the weekend with an attitude of gratitude acknowledging all that we have, have achieved and the ability to strive for what we want?
Have you noticed that the days you experience more "lucky" instances are the days you feel your best? When we are thankful for the little things they become the big things.
So as Jim Rohn cited once - Learn to be thankful for what you already have, while you pursue all that you want.” Like every decision, gratitude is also a choice and one we can make even in the midst of challenges.
I do not know how the week has been for you but I am grateful that you are here, you never gave up but decided to show up for yourself, everyday.
So let's get into the weekend with a thankful heart knowing that we have made it through another week.
Affirmation: I am so grateful for the difficulties I face for they make me appreciate the easy times.
