I am always so touched when time and time again I am reminded of the kindness of humanity. Whilst visiting home last weekend I met encounters that humbled me once again and couldn’t help but breathe in awe of the goodness around me. My experiences starts on a Friday where I had booked an appointment to go for viewings on the coming Sunday at around 14:45pm I had a missed call but a message was left when I listened to the message the appoint had been cancelled because the person to conduct the viewings had fallen ill.
I was asked to come the following week but I couldn’t as I was scheduled to leave that week and the offices closed at 15:00 hrs. So I tried to call them before the closed for the day and just before 15:00pm my hone rung and it was one of the letting agents calling again to see if I wanted to reschedule I explained that I couldn’t do the following week because I was traveling. She promised to see what she could do and get back to me in a few minutes, not long after she called back to say she had found a tenant with a similar house as I was interested in and another tenant that was willing to show me around in their absence. I accepted that offer and thanked her for her efforts.
Sunday came around and I got ready to catch the train to go fr the viewing. As I got to the train station I could see working men and heard an announcement of the trains not working that route for a couple of days due to works being done on the tracks.
What???? Was my initial thought then panic kicked in as buses run once every hour on Sundays and the train was my best option to get to the central station to catch my train to Copenhagen.
No no no this can’t be happening I mumbled to myself.
Then looking around frantically I saw one of the workmen coming towards me, he asked if I didn’t know that trains were temporarily suspended and I said no because it wasn’t updated on the up so I didn’t know or had made other arrangements.
“Are you going far” he asked,
“yes to the central station” I replied still panicking.
He then told me to go ask any of his colleagues if they could help get me to a closer bus stop. I wouldn’t normally say yes but I was desperate so I went over to them and asked if any of them could give me a lift to the nearest bus stop. One guy already in one of their cars offered to drive me. I jumped in and said a big thank you to him so as we approached the nearest bust stop he asked how far is the central station from where we were I said about 15 minutes drive, he then said
“we are contractors from Aarhus so I don’t know where the central station is but I will drive you all the way.” I couldn’t believe it I whispered a thank you under my breath and thanked him again. In no time at all we were at the station I got out, found my way to my train which was also unusually early that I wasn’t even sure it was that so I asked a train warden and they confirmed. I got on found my seat and had a very easy journey to Copenhagen after that.
The viewing was great and the tenants that offered to help were very nice. After I met up with my sister and a friend for lunch, where our friend offered to treat both my sister and I as we were “visiting” he said. Oh gosh can this day be any better I thought to myself and yes it could. After lunch my sister had another appointment so she left us at the station and our friend decides to wait with me for over 30 minutes till my train back. After a great lunch, catch up and viewings I say goodbye give him a hug and find my seat. I settle and smile to myself in utter gratitude for the experiences of the day reminding me of the kindness of man and the goodness around me.
The number of help I have received unexpectedly has left me in awe of how much I am divinely guided and protected at all times. My heart was full for people genuinely shared their time, space, homes, meals and smiles with me. Thoughts and feelings I never take for granted. So I would love to know what you have recently experienced that reminds you of the kindness of humanity and the goodness around you.
