Gratitude in the Midst of Challenges
Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times, you grow - Troy Amdahl
Today is a challenge and it’s been a really tough week with so many obstacles so as I sat to write I couldn’t find that energy I normally have to express gratitude. But as I made a promise to myself never to miss a week of writing, almost a year ago when I started my newsletters, I decided to focus on my ability to stay consistent. I decided to acknowledge myself for always showing up even when I didn’t feel like it or had the energy.
Today I am giving myself grace and accepting that it’s ok not to be on top of my game. Yes life is happening but I am choosing to acknowledge what I have already, the things I have achieved even though not exactly where I want to be I know I have done quite well. I have been writing for 45 weeks in a row now and that is no small feat to show up with a different message and write about them each passing week. This takes determination and discipline and now that I think of it I could just as well be grateful to myself for sticking to my decisions throughout the yer and seeing a lot of things through.
As I look back I can indeed tick a lot of things of my goal list so yes maybe I didn’t have much to be grateful for at the start of this but right now I am grateful for my hard work and resilience. Grateful for keeping my promises to me because means more than any promise anyone else can fulfil for me. I am grateful for not giving up even when the odds are stacked against me and I am grateful for my sense of awareness to be able to recognise these and also give myself the grace I need to get through challenges.
This is a short gratitude note as we end the week I would like to encourage you that no matter what is going on on the outside take some time to give yourself some well deserved love. Nourish your soul and spirit by thanking yourself for all that you do for you.
Affirmation: I give myself the grace I need to get through this.
