Gratitude - the gift that keeps on giving
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.– Oprah Winfrey.
I have been reflecting over the past week and how tough it was for me to find anything outside of myself to be grateful for, but my musings brought me to the basics once again. To going over the things I already had and were so very present in my life at this moment. I was reminded by a clip I saw about the law of attraction which touched on the fact that we attract what we are not what we seek and so if one was looking for love they were to be grateful the love already in their lives.
Through this appreciation we start vibrating on that level and become the embodiment of love, thereby attracting more of that to us.
As I thought about this, I decided then to go back to the basics for everything else I seek I already have, in some way. Yes, indeed if it’s more money then I can be grateful for the amount I already have in my account even though it’s not what I truly desire, I can still be grateful because in that energy of being grateful for what money I already have I am drawn to more opportunities to get more.
So, instead of my usual novel-link journaling, I have started a bulleted entry this week and listing 5 things that I am grateful for already having and I want more of.
I am so very grateful for my health and that of my loved ones. Yes, the very first thing because we only pay attention to this when we are not feeling well.
I am so grateful for the love already in my life, from family, pets and good friends.
I am so grateful for the financial abundance in my life, the money to not just cover the basics but treat myself every now and again.
I am so grateful for the work I do and opportunities to learn and grow with every encounter.
I am so grateful for the peace in my immediate community and praying for more of it all around the world.
I am so grateful for a productive day and week that I am better than I was yesterday and closer to my dreams.
Oh, I did say 5 but see how easy it is to have more things to be grateful for by going to the basic and being appreciative of all the things we already have. I know sometimes it’s very challenging to find something to be grateful for however, today as we enter the weekend after a work week, not knowing how yours has been, I would like to encourage you to look at your life and be genuinely grateful for the things you already have. Because at one point these were the things we were praying for and gratitude being the gift that keeps on giving magnifies the things we receive and the emotions we feel as we show more appreciation for what we already have. So, be grateful if nothing at all for the clean air you just breathed into your lungs, you only needed a small amount but you have it in abundance around you. Have a great weekend ahead!
