Lesson 5 In the Science of Getting Rich: Increasing Life
That which makes you want money is the same as that which makes the plant grow; it is Life, seeking fuller expression. - Wallace D. Wattles
One of my favourite chapters in this book that debunks many limiting beliefs we have about money, wealth and riches is this chapter on Increasing life. In this the author explains how the desire for riches is simply the capacity for a larger life and should be a natural desire for every man. As controversial as this statement might be to many, it carries a great amount of truth. We live in societies that make us look down or judge the rich but they have found and live the truth of every living being - seeking growth and fuller expression. Every living thing seeks to increase life, the plants grow bigger when there are good conditions and so will humans, for the One Living Substance that is All, and in All desires for us to live fuller lives.
Bearing in mind that riches may mean different things to each one of us, in these lessons we focus on money and what having a lot of it means. It is money that helps us live richer and fuller lives and before you interject with - money can’t buy happiness, hear me out. It is true money can’t buy happiness because nothing can buy happiness, if you as an individual can’t find happiness from within, no external factor can bring you happiness. However, money can buy you a better and fuller life because in order to have a roof over your head you will need money, in order to feed your body, mind and soul, you will need money. Money is what we exchange for services and products. Without a lot of it you’ll not be in a place to live a fuller life because your dominant state of being will be worrying and it mostly is through this that most get the desire for change. A desire for more, more life, more health and more freedom.
You may ask - but how do I know that I am capable of more?
Stop for a moment and really think about what it is you currently really desire to have in your life?
Is it more money for your business, more clients or customers, some money for education, what is it?
This desire isn’t wrong it is God/The Devine/Source wanting you to fulfil this so They can express themselves properly through you. If you are a practicing christian you will be familiar with this bible verse - John 14:12 whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these. So is it not then justified that the One Living Substance wants to be able to work and live through us? This might seem a bit farfetched but it needn’t be for if you, like I, desire to have more than just enough to get by that is totally normal. Even though our societies and upbringing glorify beliefs such as:
Money is the root of all evil
Rich people are crooks
Hard work is the only way to succeed in life
Be content with what you have
We can still ignore these knowing better now and reprogram ourselves to believe that being rich and not just merely getting by is very good. Yes generally in life that’s how to show gratitude however we are not to settle for the bare minimum when we can have more and the misuse of money is evil not money itself. Money is just energy and a medium of exchange without it we won’t be able to access most fundamental things we need for surviving. When we think of how a lot of rich people also squander money we think they are crooks but that is not necessarily true, for the amount of genuine rich people outnumber the crooks and if you are thinking about those who have manipulated and cheated their way to wealth, yes unfortunately there are others that have and will acquire their riches in bad ways but that doesn’t hold true for everyone. Riches are there for us all to enjoy and even though it looks like the only way to come across this is through sweat and toil we also can’t just wish your way to a successful life. Some degree of work will have to be invested in but the point is not to work during all your waking hours or exert excessive pressure to be successful. Success is 95% mindset and 5% strategy. Once the mindset work is done things start compounding and then the floodgates seem to open.
Our desire to get a bigger house because of a larger family or for practical reasons, or our desire for increased salary for the work we do, or our desire for nice clothes, are all ways The One living Substances seeks to express itself in our lives. So if you catch yourself downplaying your desires thinking that it’s too much or too big or you don’t feel deserving of them, know that if you were not capable of having, doing and being those desires you wouldn’t have them as ideas in your mind.
The statements above may be a foundation to some of these thoughts of un-deservedness. Many people live through life wishing that they could do, have and be something else but never take action due to these limiting beliefs. So when it comes to money, unless one works through them to a point where connotations with money are neutral and good, no amount of work will produce the riches one seeks. It is our birthright to be rich and however this comes to us, it is worthy to note that it is God/Divine/Source seeking fuller expression and expansion in us. This is increasing life, the things you want to have are things for you to have and only yours to bring to life, and no one else on this earth of 7 billion people has the exact same desire as you so when you have the tugging at your heart remember that it is yours to manifest.
