In the last week of January, we’ll still explore some strategies for cultivating self-care and why making self-care a priority is important. As we are still very early in the year I believe it is necessary to set some ground rules for ourselves especially when it comes to our mental and physical wellbeing. This will hopefully be what sets a strong foundation and a fallback whenever we need to pull the plug from the busyness of everyday life and recharge.
I write a lot about this and for good reason, in the past year, I have experienced some times where I’ve been forced to take time off and take care of myself. It’s not the easiest to do when you are ambitious or have things that you need to accomplish but don’t let nature force you to take a break. Rather, make time for yourself and make your physical and mental well-being a priority.
Making self-care a priority requires adopting an attitude that sets you and your priorities first and, yes I know as a caregiver this might seem hard but hear me out. What I am suggesting is that even if it’s just 20 minutes a day that you can allocate to yourself and well-being then you have to find that 20 minutes and do something for yourself.
