Study the Science of Getting Rich With Me
Leave everyone you encounter with the thought of increase! -Wallace D. Wattles
I have learnt that the road to self development and development is not an easy one but then again if it were there'd be no point in this work. As I want these newsletters to be more than inspirational reads, in the coming weeks I would like to share with you what I have been learning from one of the books that has become a favourite in recent years - The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. This book though very thin with less than a 100 pages has very deep and useful knowledge and whilst studying I came across a thought provoking statement which is very simple as you read but quite challenging to put into practice.
This thought is - To add some sort of value to the lives of everyone you encounter, no matter the situation you meet them in. This isn’t how the book starts but I know that if you are new to the personal development space then the title can be a bit off putting but a deeper study of the book reveals that in order to get rich - in all aspects of your life and especially when it comes to money there are specific ways to go about this. Reason for the title of the book, and after reading this and finding out that the teachings of this is also what Rhonda Byrne author of the Secret among others practiced, it piqued my interest even further.
After reading numerous times and beginning to study it in detail I have found interesting things and that is what I would love to share with you should you be at all interested in learning this philosophy. Every time I study this I don’t find anything new but I discover something new about myself as my mentor used to say.
My first challenge to myself was to add value to you my community and so upon trying to act on this I have decided to share these nuggets with you as I study and practice what I learn for I might not meet some of you in person but I would still love to add more value to you for taking time to read. I believe we all in one way or another encounter people on a daily basis and though not all these encounters are the best or in person, Wallace Wattles asks that no matter what, we let people feel they have gained something by being in our company. In this way we automatically attract to us people, clients, customers, situations and even employers because the desire of every man is to experience increase in one way or the other.
In addition, I’ve been pondering over this and incorporating this more into daily encounters with colleagues, neighbours and even strangers on my walk or at the store. The questions I have been asking are where can I help some more? Who can I help today and oh who can I share my smile with today? The thought of increase need not be that extravagant but your encouraging word to your colleague, offering to babysit, being the listening ear or even offering an extra 10 minutes in a session can all be acts of adding value.
So if you are looking for more increase in your own life, more customers or more clients then my challenge to myself and you is for us to find a way to leave everyone we encounter with increase for the next 30 days. So join me as we start with the study of the Science of Getting Rich in the upcoming weeks.
