Thank You Just Because….
Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.” —Alice Walker
Thank you, has become one of my all time favourite prayers and responses and so I don’t use it lightly and whenever I use it I really mean it. You might know that in some cultures whether you mean it or not you say thank you and especially in the corporate world we use that as an acknowledgement to emails even though sometimes this is not really in tune with the communication. Thank you has also become a whole sentence for me, where uttering these two words without any explanation becomes enough. Anyway back to why these two words are so powerful, how they’ve changed so much for me and why I feel the need to share a few ways I use them.
I experienced the power of -Thank You when I read Erckhart Tolle’s quote - “If thank you is the only prayer you say that would suffice.” In the moments when I was so down and couldn’t bring myself to pray the only words I could mutter was - Thank You and when I said this I meant it in the way of - Thank you for still being here and thriving through it all, Thank You just because…. It also became powerful to me when I stopped trying to down play my worth and value by deflecting compliments and acknowledgement from others and just responding with a genuine - Thank you to whatever I was acknowledged for. In this regard these two words have changed my perception for they’ve become more of a prayer and a way of showing heartfelt appreciation when I use them. Let me share a few experiences to put this in perspective.
I had another God-wink the other day after a chat with my sister the previous day. I was looking to buy an external hard drive to store some of my documents and pictures on, yes I store them in the cloud too but it was a slower process as I experienced, so I had to do two transfers. I went online to get the drive but I left the research midway as I got tired and fell asleep. The next day as I was cleaning the lounge, I moved my “abundance” box to dust around and as I put it back it hit something at the back of the shelf which I hadn’t noticed prior. So I took it out completely and found a small pouch looking case, I took that out of the way and as I studied it I realised it was a hard drive. My jaw dropped and as I examined it further it was a 1 terabyte hard drive exactly what I had been looking to buy. I was so surprised because I didn’t even know I had purchased one like this before. How could this be? I smiled and whispered- Thank You, and called my sister to tell her the news.
Going to bed I repeated, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You…
This was just the beginning of all the things I got to say my profound prayer for. This happened on the Friday, so on Saturday I reached out to a fellow mastermind and I asked to be accountability partners on our new course, with enthusiasm they responded yes and we immediately booked our first session. I looked up and whispered - Thank You! After, as I went through my coaching hours which I thought was left with two hours I saw that I had three and a half hours left, gosh what a relief I have more hours to get the help I need, so yes time for another - Thank You.
Then came Sunday, I decided to go for the morning service, I met with my aunt and uncle they both said “you are looking good and to that I joyously said - Thank you. After a brief catch up after the service, my uncle said I am collecting some fresh vegetables and fruits that I ordered so come with me and take some home. Talk about being at the right place at the right time, him and I have been on a celery juicing journey for some time but I had stopped buying celery as the supermarket celery went as green as they used to be. I went with him picked some apples, pears and huge celery stalk, I said a very big thank you, hugged him and drove off.
Driving back home the weather was amazing, the sun out and wind warm I smiled and said - Thank You as I acknowledged everything I was experiencing. So right now without knowing what is going on for you, I want to say thank you for being here, thank you for reading this and thank you just because you are you.
Affirmation: I find an abundant amount of things to thankful for each day
