The Lucky Girl Syndrome - Seeking out the good
The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness. —Dalai Lama
Gratitude indeed does magnify what we appreciate. You might have heard of this new mindset and manifestation trend going on, especially on social media currently - The Lucky Girl Syndrome.
This concept is when you believe and affirm that everything goes well for you and try to see the positive even in the things that didn’t exactly go as expected. Well it’s not just a social media hack but actually a good mindset and attitude change to experience more of what you desire. For the science behind this is when you tell yourself that everything goes well for you, your reticular activating system also goes into action looking for things that are in alignment with this belief and you begin to see and experience more of these things. Just as you start seeing a particular brand or colour of car the moment you decide to get the same car.
My Lucky girl syndrome story
I recently experienced this when I was out of elastic bands and decided to go to the nearest supermarkets to see if I could find any. These supermarkets aren’t big ones so I wasn’t quite sure I would find it there so on my way I said to myself - everything does work out for me and I am going to find these elastic bands. So I went to the first supermarket and they didn’t have it and I left to the second one and as I went over to the section with the crafts I saw only one container of the exact elastic bands I was looking for amidst others. Just one! I picked this up and smiled murmuring to myself, everything does indeed work out for me.
Being grateful is an attitude
We might not have all we wish for but being grateful in advance for the things we we expect and the things we already have can open doors for us to experience more to be grateful for. It is so easy to get stuck in the mindset of complaining when all we see and hear are so gloomy but how much does it help when we fan that fire of negativity with our own complains?
If we wish to see and experience more to be grateful for it starts with us planting seeds of good thoughts in the soil of our minds. See we cannot think and complain all day and expect to have good things come our way. Yes it might be very challenging right now and there seems to be no way out or nothing to be grateful for but that thought right there is an issue.
Focus on the good and be grateful for what is, it really helps
When we focus all our energy and attention on the things going wrong, in the midst of challenges, all we see and experience are more things going wrong because this is the seed we planted. However if we try to embrace challenges; and no I am not diminishing any experience right now, with an open mind and appreciation for the lessons from them we get more clarity to see opportunities of resolution. So as hard as our circumstances might be let’s choose to focus on and appreciate all that is working right now in our lives and think thoughts that elevate our perceptions to the good we expect to come in our lives. Try the Lucky Girl Syndrome, yes even if you are a man or non-binary it still happens for everyone. I would love to know if you have experienced this in some way, so kindly share in the comments.
