The Power of Persistence and Perfect Timing
Persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steel. – Napoleon Hill
Happy new week dear friend! Another beautiful week is upon us and this week I want to share a thought I had over the weekend with you as I prepped for this week.
How many times have you set a goal, only to find that the journey to achieving it feels longer and more challenging than you anticipated? If you’ve followed my journey for a while you probably would have read of my breakthroughs, challenges and aha moments with achieving specific goals.
It’s easy to become disheartened when things don’t seem to go according to plan, but in these moments, it’s been crucial for me to stay persistent and trust in the process.
A few years ago, just before COVID, I set out to pursue a dream that had been on my heart for a long time. Like many of us, I imagined a smooth path to success, but as the weeks turned into months, and the months into years, doubts began to creep in because what I had anticipated was not what was happening.
Then COVID also hit and I began asking - Had I made the right decision? Was this really meant for me? It was during one of these low points that my mum reminded me of a simple, yet powerful truth: “Trust the timing of your life.”
I realised that while I was focused on immediate results, life had its own timeline. My process has never been about rushing to the finish line but about growing through each step of my journey.
Every setback was a lesson, every delay an opportunity to refine my approach. Persistence became less about pushing through frustration and more about showing up every day, committed to the process, and believing that things would come together for me at the right time.
In his timeless book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill emphasizes that “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” These words are a powerful reminder that success isn’t just about working hard; it’s about being patient with the process, trusting that every effort is leading you closer to your goal, even when progress seems invisible.
This made me think about the story of Thomas Edison, who “failed” thousands of times before successfully inventing the lightbulb.
Imagine if he had given up after the first few attempts, doubting his ability and the timing of his breakthrough. Instead, he trusted the process, persisted, and created one of the most useful things the world has now.
I am not downplaying any challenges or hardships we have because I know it all too well. The many times I have had to pivot from an idea or goal and recalibrate. It can be frustrating but I believe persistence is what keeps me going, even when the progress is slow.
Trusting the timing of our desires means believing that everything is unfolding exactly as it should, and that our efforts will be rewarded in due time.
So, as we start a new week I want to remind you that the next time you find yourself questioning the journey, remember this: persistence isn’t just about enduring; it’s about believing.
Believe in your ability to achieve your dreams, and trust that the timing, however uncertain it may seem, is always right. For every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage. I’d love to hear your experience with staying persistent and trusting the process so do share these in the comments.
Have a great week!
Love&light
