Vision - A Picture of the Future that Produces Passion
Cherish your vision, cherish your ideals, cherish the music that stirs in your heart - James Allen
I am rereading this book As a man thinketh by James Allen and especially the statement above is one that has really hit home for me. In last weeks newsletter I shared why we should pursue our dreams and the tugging at our hearts. I have come to realise that one of the secrets to success in any area of our lives lies in these three phrases. As simple as they may seem at first glance a deep study of them will help us understand the point being made.
Finding the Music of My Heart
Vision, Ideals and the music of the heart - the good old book talks about where there is no vision the people perish that is metaphorically so true. For if we have no vision to work towards how do we know what to improve? One of the areas in my life that I have found this to resonate very much is my desire to be a content creator. I remember writing a lot in the past but without an actual strategy of what the aim was, yes a lot of business coaches will say share a lot of valuable content for free and I gladly did and I am doing so now too. The difference now is I have a vision of of using my content to help myself and others in working on ourselves. To share my content with a community who actually find it helpful and then growing that community so they can also help themselves and help others. My previous intentions were also good to share my knowledge with others but not everyone was interested and resonates because it was a one size fits all approach I was using. So, re-evaluating my vision and ideals I have come to this, to serving, serving you every week with relevant content in my newsletter straight into your inbox.
Follow the Rhythm
I believe we should always seek to grow in life even when we are secure in every aspect of our lives. We should see ourselves being and doing more till our last breath and with that comes a vision. We should also stay true to what we believe is important first to ourselves and then to the rest of society, that is establishing what our own values are and how we can live by them and through them to make an impact.
Then combining this vision and our ideals we create the rhythm which hopefully helps us see how this creates a sense of purpose for that thing that stirs our heart and that which gives meaning to life when we we work towards or at it. As I have learnt we don’t always have to know the purpose but we can be assured that when we stick to our ideals and have a vision of who and how we want to be and impact our corner of the world we find the purpose. I strongly believe I have found mine.
Now Get Clear on the Notes and Move to the Beat
See without vision we succumb to the average and it is true if we don’t know where we are going or want to go we follow the crowd or someone will make that decision for us. The same goes for not standing firm by what we believe in, someone’s believes will become ours because we waver in our own. So my encouragement today is wherever you are at this moment reevaluate your vision and fan that flame alive again if the spark has died, stand firm by your ideals because they are yours for a reason and keep that music stirring in your heart even if your present environment tells you different. The day will surely come but not without consistent, persistent work and faith. Â
